Wild West WordFest

Wild West WordFest is a three day “mini-festival” from June 18-20, 2012 that features programming that celebrates the expression of cowboy culture through word, music and art in an effort to engage all sectors of the arts community for a city-wide commemoration. Events will include children’s programming, visual art, storytelling and spoken word programming.

In addition to the three-day festival, WordFest is also running TumbleWord, a writing contest open to children and adults that draws inspiration from archival images from the Calgary Stampede.

TumbleWord and Wild West WordFest are made possible through the support of the Calgary Stampede. 2012 marks the Centennial celebration of the Calgary Stampede (July 6-15, 2012) and this programming partnership merges the excitement of the Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth with dynamic literary programming to explore the history and future of the Stampede.

This project is sponsored by the Calgary Stampede.
