Featuring: Nadeem Aslam, Sahar Delijani, Charlotte Grimshaw, Anthony Marra and Michael Winter

Novelists discuss the fine line between where reality ends and the storytelling begins as they map the sources of inspiration behind their work.

The Blind Man’s Garden by Nadeem Aslam is a story of war and one family’s losses, set in Pakistan and Afghanistan in the months following 9/11.

Children of the Jacaranda Tree is a novel based on the harrowing experiences of its author, Sahar Delijani, and is a timely drama set in post-revolutionary Iran about three generations of men and women moved by dreams of justice and freedom.

Minister Without Portfolio by Michael Winter follows an army-affiliated contractor who tavels to Afghanistan on a quest to simultaneously recover from unrequited love and to find meaning in what is becoming an increasingly emotionally arid life.
