Alumni NewsWordFest alumnus Mark Billingham has won the crime novel of the year award at the Harrogate crime writing festival for Death Message, his seventh book featuring London copper DI Tom Thorne.WordFest alumni Colm Toibin and Sarah Waters have made this year's Man Booker Prize for fiction longlist. Toibin, for his latest novel Brooklyn, and Waters, for her The Little Stranger, are two out of 13 authors—including many familiar names and a few newcomers—vying for the coveted honour. The shortlist will be unveiled Tuesday, September 8th and the winner named Tuesday, October 6th.
