ARCHIVE – Kris Demeanor

he son of a Swedish beauty queen and a German General Proficiency award winner. He’s a songwriter and performer who writes and sings about the funny, dark, absurd, maddening and joyful for people who like to think, dance, laugh, cry and party. His music draws on classic folk story telling, spoken word/rap, and shamelessly hooky pop, which both complicates things for all involved and makes them more interesting. He was Calgary’s Poet Laureate from 2012-14.

The Calgary Project

The Calgary Project: A City Map in Verse and Visual, co-edited with Dymphny Dronyk, documents a vibrant and diverse snapshot of the city’s visual and literary arts, while celebrating the two-year term of Calgary’s inaugural Poet Laureate, Kris Demeanor. The selections include work by nationally (and internationally) prominent poets such as Sheri-D Wilson, Christian Bök, Micheline Maylor, Fred Wah, Anne Burke and Tom Wayman, and artists such as Jeff de Boer, George Webber, Mandi Stobo and Tina Martel, as well as pieces by newer and younger writers and artists.
