Clarkson, Adrienne

Adrienne Clarkson (CAN) became Canada’s 26th governor general in 1999 and served until September 2005. In her multifaceted career as an accomplished broadcaster and distinguished public servant she has received numerous prestigious awards and honorary degrees in Canada and abroad. In 2005, she founded The Institute for Canadian Citizenship. Clarkson’s newest book, Room for All of Us, explores the immigrant experience through some extraordinary people who have helped transform Canada – among them, a child survivor of the Holocaust who became one of Canada’s outstanding ambassadors, a Vietnamese boat person who is now an award-winning cinematographer, and two Calgarians, an Ismaili and a great Serbian writer.
